to the Alben plateau. Join us and watch the itinerary for the Snowshoe hike to Gherardi mountain shelter.
The Snowshoe hike to Gherardi mountain shelter is an easy hike to the Alben plateau, in the heart of the Taleggio Valley.
We reach Pizzino (BG), in the Taleggio Valley, and from here we climb along the road that leads to Capo Foppa (be aware, you have to buy a ticket for the transit at the appropriate column. Always evaluate the snow conditions on the road and stop when it is no longer passable) We park the car next to the road where it ends.
We then follow the CAI 120 trailmark, which climbs the mountain side through a beautiful beech forest. Once we reach a mountain hut, the forest gives way to wide meadows and the view opens up on the monte Resegone. The path now turns to the right and soon reaches the Gherardi mountain refuge. This refuge is managed by volunteers of the association “Operazione Mato Grosso” and the proceeds are entirely donated to charity.
In the winter season, the shelter is usually closed, but it is possible to stop on its outside benches for a well-deserved picnic. In fact, the shelter is located in a wide and sunny plateau, with a grand view of Resegone and the Lombard plain, and even on sunny winter days it is pleasant to stay outdoors.
The return takes place along the same itinerary as the ascent. The hike does not present particular difficulties and only a minimum of training is required.
You can find the route with the GPS track that can be downloaded for free from this link.
Always carefully plan your trips, choosing the appropriate material and equipment and verifying the itinerary before embarking on it.
