On the Snow in Val Camonica! Discover the itinerary with us for snowshoeing to Case di Viso, above Ponte di Legno.
Case di Viso is a characteristic village in the Upper Val Camonica above Ponte di Legno, inhabited during the summer but isolated from the main road in winter. The snowshoeing excursion to Case di Viso is an ideal route to explore this location during the winter season – it’s easy and suitable for everyone.
We reach Pezzo by car, a hamlet along the road that ascends from Ponte di Legno towards the Gavia Pass, and we park in one of the switchbacks ascending before the village.
From here, we start walking up the Val di Viso, following the signs to our destination. We can either take the road in the valley bottom, often groomed by a snow groomer in winter, or the summer trail halfway up the valley.
Without any difficulty and with manageable slopes, we reach Case di Viso in about an hour. It’s worth stopping and dedicating some time to exploring the village, characterized by low stone and wood houses with stone slab roofs.
For those with energy left, it takes about 30 minutes to reach a picnic area just above the village, which offers splendid views of the village and the valley below on one side, and the imposing mountains of the Adamello group on the other side, particularly the majestic Corno Tre Signori, at an altitude of 3360 meters.
The return journey follows the same route as the way there.
The excursion doesn’t present any particular difficulties and is suitable for everyone, including families or beginners with limited training.
