Among spectacular ice falls. Watch with us the route for a winter hike along the Via Mala!
The Via Mala is the ancient road that runs along the ravine and gorge of the Dezzo stream, in Val Camonica. The route follows the ancient road, which can only be traveled on foot; for cars, in fact, this has been replaced by a more recent one, more flowing thanks to the numerous galleries. Given the little exposure to the sun and the high humidity, the route in winter is filled with spectacular stalactites and frozen waterfalls.
We reach Angolo Terme, in Valle Camonica, by car and from there we follow for the Val di Scalve. We continue along the road and after the second tunnel, we find a parking area in front of an old guardhouse. We park here and now continue on foot.
The path is flat and about 1 km long, fully secured by guardrails that still allow you to appreciate the vertical and overhanging walls, eroded by the river over the millennia. There is also a panoramic balcony that allows you to admire the gorge in all its splendor.
The return is then on the same route as the outbound trip. Although not physically demanding, for this hike, it is mandatory to have crampons due to the often icy conditions of the trail to avoid dangerous falls.
You can find the route with the GPS track that can be downloaded for free from this link.
Always carefully plan your trips, choosing the appropriate material and equipment and verifying the itinerary before embarking on it.
