Sunny peak in Brembana Valley. Check out our guide for the snowshoe hike on Monte Avaro itinerary!
Monte Avaro is a wide and sunny peak in the Upper Brembana Valley. In winter it is easily accessible with snowshoes starting right from the Avaro plains, a location in the municipality of Cusio.
We reach the Avaro plains by car, remembering to pay the toll for the road starting from Cusio (BG). We park near the Ristorante Rifugio Ristorobie, where we can later stop for a great lunch on our way back. Now, with snowshoes on, we take the CAI 109 trail and head north with a slight incline to a cow trough. Here we turn left and ascend the path with a steeper incline, until we reach a fork and a hut. We then take the left path and begin to climb a wide valley until we reach a large plateau where there is a sign with trail markings. From here we finally head towards the wide and rounded peaks of Monte Avaro, which we reach quickly. From the summit we enjoy a wide and spectacular panorama, ranging from Grigne and Pizzo dei Tre Signori, to Pegherolo, to the snowy plateau below. The return takes place along the same itinerary as the ascent.
