Ridge between Val Brembana and Seriana! Join us to discover the itinerary for the hike to Pizzo Arera

Pizzo Arera is a panoramic and isolated peak located along the ridge separating Val Brembana from Val Seriana. Its limestone rock walls are very suggestive.

Starting from the Rifugio Capanna 2000, located at its foot, we reach the locality of Plassa in Zambla Alta and climb up by car to reach the unpaved parking lot near the old ski lifts at an altitude of 1590 meters. Please note that a ticket, costing 4 euros, must be purchased from the special column by the roadside to access this parking lot. Following the CAI 221 trail markers, we reach the Rifugio in less than an hour. From Zambla Alta, you can also reach Cima Grem, which we talked about in this article.

From here, we take the marked path that climbs up the South ridge of Pizzo Arera. The slope is steep and in a short time, we gain altitude until we reach the pre-summit. Now, the technically more challenging part begins. We descend along a debris-filled gully and then climb up the other side through a crack in the rock with the help of metal ladders. Once this passage is done, the route becomes easier again, albeit with sustained slopes, and in a short time, it takes us to the summit of Pizzo Arera.

From here, you can enjoy a wide panorama of the Prealps on one side and the Orobie and Retiche on the other.

The return journey takes place on the same route taken on the ascent.

This hike requires good training and a minimum of sure-footedness in tackling the more technical passage.
