Crocuses Kingdom.
Monte Pigolota (or Pigolotta) is an anonymous peak located above Valtora, reaching a maximum altitude of around 1500 meters. The reason why it is worth reaching this elevation is that at the beginning of spring, its meadows are covered and invaded by crocuses, typical bell-shaped flowers that are white with shades of purple and blue.
We reach the car in Cantello, a fraction of Valtorta. From here, we take the obvious path that passes through the old houses of the village. At the first fork, we take a left and soon reach the baites of Costa del Gras. From here, we take a right and continue uphill through the thick of the forest. We then reach the agro-silvo-pastoral road, which we follow until we reach a clearing with a baita. Here we leave it and ascend the meadows that will gradually be filled with crocuses, until we reach some restored baites and a votive chapel. In front of us, a carpet of flowers will fill our eyes with all their shades.
The return can be made on the same route as the ascent.
The path is not difficult and can be tackled by anyone with a minimum of training.
