TRIP SUMMARY
DIFFICULTY: Moderate to Easy
ELEVATION GAIN: About 400 meters
MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: about 600 meters
Type: A/R
DURATION: 1.5h Outbound / 0.45h Return
START: Peschiera Maraglio (BS)
ARRIVAL: Sanctuary of Madonna della Ceriola
After parking your car on the mainland in Sulzano, you can reach the village of Peschiera Maraglio by taking the regular ferry. Our walking excursion begins in this charming village, particularly from the tourist information office.

We ascend along the main promenade that runs alongside the info point, leading us to the asphalt road; we cross it and take the trail that continues into the forest on the left, initially with steps and then on an unpaved path. The panorama offers glimpses of Rocca Martinengo and the Island of San Paolo. In the final stretch, the path levels out and quickly brings us to the village of Cure.
We pass through the town until we reach a small chapel dedicated to Madonna, where we turn right onto a forest trail. We then follow the signs for the start of the Via Crucis, which will lead us to the north entrance of the Sanctuary.

The return is along the same route taken on the way there. For those who prefer, there is the option to take the local bus.

The elevation gain is considerable and requires a minimum level of fitness, but the route itself does not present any significant difficulties or technical passages.
You can find the interactive map of the route, complete with elevation profile and downloadable GPS track, at this link.
