The Beauty of Nature in the Upper Brembana Valley! Discover the itinerary for the excursion to the 3 Ponteranica lakes with us
In this article, we describe an easy hike to visit three stunning alpine lakes nestled in a basin formed by Monte Triomen, Monte Valletto, and Monte Ponteranica in the Upper Brembana Valley.
We reach the Monte Avaro plateau by car, in Cusio (the last stretch of road requires a payment of 2 euros in a designated roadside column). We park near the Hotel-Rifugio Monte Avaro and then walk along the dirt road that will take us to the entrance of the CAI 109 hiking trail.
Following this trail, we trek along the slopes of Monte Triomen. When we reach a fork in the path, we take the right path to connect to the CAI 101 trail, which we follow. When we reach a second fork, we leave the 101 trail and follow the signs towards the lakes, which are now close by. After a short climb, we finally arrive at these three magnificent lakes.
The return is on the same route as the outward journey.
This hike is not particularly difficult, requiring only a minimum amount of training.
You can find the interactive map of the route, complete with altitude and downloadable GPS track, at this link.
Always organize your trips with care, choose appropriate equipment, and verify the itinerary before embarking on it.
