Hiking among gnomes and legends! Discover the itinerary along the Enchanted Forest Trail with us.

The Enchanted Forest Trail is an easy route, suitable for families and children, which winds through the forest in Colle Vareno, not far from the Monte Pora ski resort. The trail is dotted with wooden sculptures representing the interpretation of some local legends and alpine folklore, such as gnomes and fairies, and is accompanied by explanatory panels that detail their stories.

The route described here starts from the lake located in Colle Vareno. The car can be easily parked in the large parking lot in this area. Next to the ski lifts, our trail starts, well marked by the signs of ERSAF, the Lombardy Regional Authority for Agriculture and Forestry Services, the owner of these woods. A gnome with a sign indicating the path stands guard at the entrance.

The trail always develops with easy slopes, alternating green pastures with cool stretches of forest. Forty wooden statues, carved by local artists, dot the path. In addition, explanatory signs are placed at the points of greatest interest. The route soon reaches the Croce di Vareno at an altitude of 1472 meters, a splendid panoramic balcony overlooking the Val Camonica. From here, follow the downhill path that, with a short loop, reconnects to the uphill road and then, shortly, back to Colle Vareno.

This hike is easy and suitable for everyone, including children and families, with no technical difficulties and a modest development and slope.
