The Acquafraggia waterfalls are a spectacular waterfall located in Valchiavenna. We are in Borgonuovo di Piuro, where we can already admire this incredible double 170-meter high waterfall from the road. They are so enchanting that they even enchanted Leonardo da Vinci, who will mention them in his “Codex Atlanticus”. The waterfalls take their name from the Latin “Acqua Fracta”, being divided and therefore “fracte” into multiple jumps.

From its summit, you can dominate the town of Zambla and the Oltre il Colle Basin. In this article, we describe the climb starting from the Zambla Pass and following the technically less challenging path, CAI 223, which avoids the ridge passage.
Trenches at Passo del Verrobbio

At Passo del Verrobbio in the High Val Brembana, the remains of the trenches built by the Italian Army before the outbreak of World War I are still present and visitable. These trenches were constructed in anticipation of a possible breakthrough of the Tonale Front and a subsequent descent of Austrian forces along the Valtellina. Part of the Cadorna Line, fortunately, these defensive structures were never used.

In this article, we describe a loop itinerary that will take us to both peaks, passing through the charming Buco delle Carolina, a narrow crack in the rock.

he Gleno Dam was an artificial dam located on the basin of the Gleno stream in Val di Scalve, designed to create a reservoir for water accumulation and generate electricity. However, it collapsed on December 1, 1923, causing significant damage and loss of life in the Bergamo’s Val di Scalve and Brescia’s Val Camonica. Today, the remains of the dam can still be reached and admired through an easy and evocative excursion.
