The Grem Peak is a broad summit located on the watershed between the Val Seriana and Val del Riso, characterized by a long ridge. From its summit, you can dominate the town of Zambla and the Oltre il Colle Basin. In this article, we describe the climb starting from the Zambla Pass and following the technically less challenging path, CAI 223, which avoids the ridge passage.

We reach the Zambla Pass by car. The quickest road from Bergamo is the one that passes through the Val Seriana and then Oneta. We can park in the small car park located just near the pass. From here, we start along the dirt road until we cross a small votive Chapel dedicated to the Madonna of Caravaggio. Here, we take the directions marked with the CAI 223 trail, for the Grem Peak.

From Zambla Alta, it is also possible to reach the Capanna 2000 Shelter and then the Pizzo Arera. We talked about this itinerary in the following article.

We continue along the path that first winds through a forest. Upon reaching the Baite di Mezzo, it gives way to green pastures and the view opens up on the Monte Alben and the Val Seriana below. From here, we then reach the Baite di Mezzo in no time, where we find a fork. We continue on the CAI 223 trail to the right, avoiding the other track that would take us to cross the challenging ridge before reaching the Grem Peak.

In no time, we reach the Mistri bivouac, an always open emergency structure. From here, we then continue to the Grem Bocchetta, a saddle between the Grem Peak and the Foppazzi Peak. We continue to the left and in no time, we reach the summit and the cross of the peak.

The return journey takes place on the path taken on the way up. The more adventurous can choose to take the ridge trail.
